20 Years Running

THE COMPANY
The Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series is a collection of road running events ran by Competitor Group, Inc. The company came to San Diego in 1998 and hosted a series of different running events annually. The series is popular for lining race routes with live bands, cheerleaders, themed water stations, and more.

MY ROLE
I began this project with many months of trial and error for various logo and design styles. It was awe-inspiring to witness the the theme and aesthetics merge to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series. I produced graphics for various segments of the campaign such as graphics for medals, print ads, website, web ads, signage, on-course activation, and many more.

There were many renditions of the 20 Years Running logo, and here are the ones that led up to the final version presented below.

 
 

This was the Marathon Series ad that was produced in various magazines to showcase all the events we offer, and highlighting significant moments over the past 20 years.

 

The Rock 'n' Roll Marathon Series website was also themed throughout the year showing the same design aesthetics as all other components.

Web ads were also treated in the same style and coloring, directing you to register for events in the 2017 Calendar.

 

This is a collection of on-site expo and race day activation that embody the 20 Years Running Campaign. All either using the 20 Years Running gradient, or washed-out filter.

 

This was an on-course activation/selfie station where runners can go up to this 20x30ft sign and take a photo with it, as well as, with characters dressed up as Elvis, Michael Jackson, and others.

 

Participant Tees were also themed with the 20 Years Running campaign and to show everyone is part of the celebration.

Medals also had memories of the original start line in 1998, with a 20 Years Running logo that would spin.

 

During Race weekend, I was also an on-staff editor, needing to collect and produce content for social media within hours of shooting the footage in order to be pushed onto social media.
